Head phones are the best, but I have some Bose ear phones, the noise-cancelling ones. They're much better for listening to the I Pod out in public.

I hear Bose criticized a lot by afficianados, but I think they sound fine. If you're into hair-splitting about audio, you probably should be listening to something other than an I Pod anyhow.
