I have a 1988 500 SEL. Wot a beauty!

Following a minor front end collision, the engine periodically and without warning shuts down. The ignition lights all come on and it restarts immediately.

I have had it suggested it might be a faulty fuel relay (whatever that may mean - IANAM!)

Any suggestions?
