The volvo tranny is a borg warner. The overdrive was a simple bolt on for that tranny and may have been very similar to ones offered back to the forties on domestic cars.

I doubt it would be a bolt on operation but if you could develop an adaptor to put it in the benz I bet there would be a market for it if not too expensive.
