The procedure itself was nothing- don't worry about it at all- very simple and not uncomfortable or irritating or really noticeable.

FYI, depending on what they're doing, your bowel prep is the difficult part- mine involved drinking 4 litres of electrolyte over the course of a few hours, which eventually passes through your system without changing in appearance. You're clean throughout. I couldn't choke it all down, so I got Magnesium Citrate in place of the last litre. It was far better tasting, had a slightly sparkling fizziness, and again made it all the way through me without changing appearance. If it's an option, I'd go for the Mag. Citrate directly rather than trying to drink the nasty electrolyte again.

Haven't got the bill yet, but I believe it will be covered by my insurance completely.
I didn't know that Magnesium Citrate was an option. The stuff I was drinking was vile. I second Djugrba on this. The prep kit was pretty expensive. ($60?)

My co-pay was $450 and the insurance paid less than $200 on top of that. I think I got ripped off. They charged the surgical co-pay despite the fact that plan states it is covered as a screening test. My written protest was to no avail.
I believe the insurance company has no incentive to reduce co-pays for colonoscopies because the onset of colon cancer is typically in a person's 70's, long after the insurance company is responsible for the bills since Medicare has taken over.
