I had my '75 in for the repair a couple of years ago. It is covered and they'll use the VIN to confirm whether or not it has already been done under warranty. Mine did not show any evidence of cracking, so they just welded the reinforcement. Unfortunately, they only did one side. The other side was slightly bent and they would not weld it (said I or someone must have hit something hard enough to bend the subframe). Still driving that way. May fix it someday, but I occasionally put it up and look for any obvious signs of fatigue, hoping I'll catch it before a catastophic break.
