Derek,
I was down there in November, at the Classic center in Irvine, and had a half an hour interview with one of the guys there, in the parts department, asking questions. They were really nice, one fellow gave up his lunch hour to talk to me!!
I have the PRIVATE private email address, and THAT will work, because they DO read and respond to private personal emails, so send me an email, Derek if you want it, and you can get to him direct..
I will tell everyone though this: Any request for parts HAS to be approved by Mercedes Benz in Germany, and certtain things that are on the DOT/EPA kill list, they aren't allowed to sell - things that would be considered illegal:
One would be a factory Mercedes Benz first aid kit; it might have drugs in it that are not approved by the FDA; or a Mercedes Benz auxiliary 7.5 gas can, because the DOT doesn't like the nozzle on it; or a Mercedes Benz fire extinguisher, or side fender blinkers, that are not DOT approved, etc.
The W123 is well within the Classic Center envelope (it's a rolling 20 year one) so they ought to be able to help you get what you need.
They are good people. Definately visit there if you go to Los ANgeles/Orange County. Showroom, the MB gift boutique, the museum of cars waiting to be restored, all of it is well worth the time to see. EZ to get to off the Freeway 5.
