Thank you for the information Peter, Steve, and others.

My W210 wagon is a 2000 model year and I think the Tele Aid (version I) is not in the fiber optic ring. I think it is wired separately.

I tried disconnecting the fiber optic cable from the phone module in the passenger's side rear wheel well and it did not affect the problems I had with the Tele Aid.

However, it now has been two days without problems. I would still like to take a look at the wiring connections to the module.

Since the Tele Aid is analog, I don't see why there would be any liability since the network it uses is being shut down.

I also bet that there are a lot of old analog version I modules getting thrown away when people opt to upgrade to digital.

I'll get a quote from my dealer as to what it would cost to de-program the Tele Aid. I really don't think it is worth the $1800 to upgrade the system on this car.
