Just a few questions on this procedure. This would be for my 1979 240D.

I just took a look a my coolant level and there was this brown sludge in there, never saw it before. So, I'm thinking, I should do a flush and refill with new coolant.

1) My tap water is very hard, abnormally salty. Do I want to use that to flush the radiator? (I'm thinking not..)

2) What about using a cleaning solution? Are they worthwhile? I heard somewhere it might make aggravate any possible rust spots and facilitate leaking?

3) I have the official mb coolant product, ready to mix 50/50 with distilled water.

Anything else I need to know? Tried to find a DIY on this, but could not. I guess its really simple for the pros on this board, but for me, it will be the first time and I would appreciate any tips or a point to the right direction.

Thanks in advance.
