I'm looking into the possibility of upgrading the dead 35A AL64x alternator in my 220d to a 55A AL74x.

Can anyone help me to cross-reference cars that used the AL74x. I'd like to do this experiment on the cheap by digging up an AL74x at a bone yard... similar to the Saab based upgrade for the W123.
