Every time they tailgate this becomes yet more of a temptation!!! I'd be more inclined to do it if someone was in the car with me....don't want to be pulled over and murdered by the cop without a witness!

Also, ANOTHER BAD COP story: A future relative of mine was on the phone with my lovely today when she told a tale of a cop in Holt, MI (just outside Lansing, the Capital, its a rich suburban area as well) pulls her over for a "rolling stop" (this was like 1-2 days ago) and having her handicap thing hanging from her mirror. He said "well, I can write you the rolling stop ticket which is $120 + 3 points on license, and a ticket for having your thing on the mirror when its not supposed to be for another $100, or, if you do not contest this ticket in court I can give you a verbal warning, however, I do have to write you a ticket for something so how about I just give you a ticket for impeding traffic, it will not put any points on your license and is only $110." At the time she couldn't do anything about it, so she took the impeding traffic ticket, which isn't even what she did. The cop essentially threatened her that if she said she'd go to court he'd write her two big tickets and put points on her license, or if she didn't he'd let her off for less money. Amazing! So another future relative of mine (who is a Michigan State Trooper in the Upper Peninsula) wrote a letter to the Holt Police informing them that what took place at that traffic stop should never take place, and you don't write tickets for things you pull out of your head that never happened and use extra tickets as threats. So far no response on it, we'll see what happens. I am betting the cop needed to fill a quota, so he plucked her out to get some cash. Amazing thing is, she drives about 30 miles a week tops, all around where she lives....and she still got pulled over. Meanwhile some ricer kid is going 110mph down a street somewhere else.

It seems to never end. Our cops here in Grand Rapids do not have ticket quotas, and are much nicer. They don't tailgate, they don't harass, and they will give warnings. I have been pulled over by one for being 10mph over, and he just checked my info, said to remember to slow down, and have a good day, and let me go. Was very friendly. Not like the @#@$$# that pulled me over in the wealthy area and wouldn't even answer me when I asked her (three times) what I was pulled over for. Jerks. Probably didn't want to tell me because "too loud" sounds like a stupid reason.

Oh, and a Wyoming (just outside Grand Rapids) Michigan Police officer was caught drunk driving in his personal vehicle with the license plate he took from the headquarters from an impounded car that was supposed to be destroyed. He was a 19 year veteran and had just been promoted. Amazing. He has now resigned from the department. What goes through these people's minds?
