I recently installed a new one on the SD, I got that plastic thing, VCV, out of the way, did not remove the ALDA. There is a metal spacer, I used some gasket stuff out of tube just to hold the three pieces, two paper gaskets sandwiching the metal piece, while I installed. I also used a stubby ratcheting wrench.
I started the engine with the valve removed, by mistake, and used the shut off lever to stop the engine, I did not have a run away.
I used a mity-vac on the valve, it worked, but had oil dripping out of the ignition cylinder, so I replaced.
