This is the first time I have heard this happening to a W202 chassis car.

It has been documented in W124 chassis cars, and a bunch of W210 E class cars.

Any body shop that is familiar with Mercedes should be able to handle it.

Read this thread. Your problem is the same. There should be pictures and a description of what parts are replaced and welded in.
