Possible good news for beavers!

I heard that placing an 8" pvc pipe at ground level through and through the dam will defeat the most industrious of beavers. It seems they understand dam wall leakage but the idea of an extension into the pond and out of the pond is a just way too complex for Mr Castor. What I don't know is how many joints are necessary.

Anybody else heard of this solution?
