Flag etiquette OTH is an important issue, because you look bad when you screw up. More so on a boat, you better have a damn good idea what goes where and when.

A local store used to fly a large American flag but the owner neglected it and left it up at night, and in the rain. Than it became torn and he still had it up. Me along and apperintly many other people conplained very loudly to the owner that he better fix it. So he took it down, which was a good decision because he wasn't going to devote the effort to it.
