Help! Last night a gas attendant put five gallons of gasoline on my diesel car. What makes this story even more tragic is that the tank was almost empty at the time. I drove the car for about three miles when the car started to shake and making loud knocking noise. I returned to the gas station immediately and confirmed the mistake. I decided to put ten additional gallons of diesel. The car is running, but is still knocking and shaking –not as much as last night- I will drain all the fuel probably today. However, my question is: what permanent damage has the car suffered as a consequence of this error?
My car is a 1983 300SD Turbo Diesel
Thank you in advance for your advise.
