Question K&N Filters In Cold Climate

I'm a big fan of K&N air filters for their breathability and durability. But I am interested in the viewpoints of others regarding the performance of an oil treated cotton medium when the temperature drops.
Let me start by saying that I live in Maine (USA). The temperatures here are routinely well below freezing for five months of the year. Now we all know what happens to oil at cold temperatures: it gets thicker.
So the question is, will the "thickening" of the oil coating in a K&N filter significantly affect the flow of air through the element?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
