Diesel is always a little more expensive in the winter months because they also use it for home heating oil in the colder areas of the country. Also remember that we all now use ULSD which means it's proscessed further than it was before, giving the distributor and oil companies another reason to charge more for the product.

Years ago they added MBTE to gas, the price went up even though MBTE was a waste byproduct of refining. Now gas prices went up when they took MBTE out of the gas and replaced it with another oxygenator like ethanol. The oil companies always make out.
