That's sounding bit like carpal tunnel which is usually avoided by doing simple exercises to increase blood flow to the forearm. One of the easiest is an exercise that I do a few times a day that only take a few seconds is to put your open hand on a table and move your arm forward to stretch the tendons in you wrist.

Good luck CMAC, the combination of the IB and the wrist strap will alleviate the symptoms quickly...don't sweat it and listen to your doctor.
