This is an unfortunate situation that I'm familiar with since it's right next door.
While the police were clearly outside any proper procedure for dealing with a potential suspect, and should never have utilized deadly force, there is no evidence that the officers involved are guilty of anything more than poor judgment. The city will definitely be liable in a civil trial, but, the judge was correct in his verdict that there was nothing to show that the officers had any intent to kill this individual.
The NYC police have one of the most difficult jobs in the country..........damned if you do...........dead if you don't. There have been similar situations on this police force in the past and there will be similar occurences in the future. In a city of 8M people, the police are perpetually in a position of danger due to the sheer numbers of perpetrators that will cause them bodily harm or death.
Sharpton has been clear in the past, and in this case, on his dismissal of due process of law. He's also quite good at inciting others around his own cause. Sharpton's main cause is the promotion of Al Sharpton, unfortunately...........nothing more.
It's highly unlikely that anything serious will happen due to his rants.
