Your welcome. It's possible that adaptation values can cause the acceleration problem. I hope that others can confirm this, surely a experienced member can chime in with some knowledge.
As to the kids leaving the reading lights on, I know the feeling. My three year old is fascinated by them, and I ended taking the bulbs out, at least until she starts reading. Thank goodness for the switch that disables the rear power windows and door locks.
