Does the E300 not have a valvetrain very similar to that of the TDI?
I see the same possibility for damage, perhaps even more in the E300 which has twice as many valves per cylinder.

And for the record, my Mercedes is completely unmodified, yet has been burning renewable, commercial B100 (aka B99) for almost three years now.
The om606 is an IDI engine, which in my eyes makes it a better candidate for SVO/WVO than a VW TDi. The fact that it is DOHC, 4valves/cyl, crossflow head means that I can also have a car I enjoy driving. Perfect car, IMO.

As I mentioned before (and again), B100 is not an option in many climates. I would never risk ruining a fantastic car like an e300d by running biodiesel.

Are you catching my drift yet? What works for you does not necessarily work for others. It's great that you can run b100. Most can't. Recommending that they can/should doesn't make sense.
