Now that we live in Canada, we find that the 560SEL is not the right car for this area. (The 300E fits right in, luckily). The size of the 560 is too big for narrow Victoria, BC streets not to mention the parkades. The big engine hardly labors at all since my wife commutes about 15 minutes each way to work.
So, we are going to sell it sometime. I just was wondering what you think it would be worth. Maybe you think I should dump it on Ebay. Let me know please.
The vitals:
1986 560SEL. 95K miles.
Incorrect W124 odometer replaced at 125K with correct W126 odometer showing 87K. Carfax shows no obvious gap to suggest when odometer was previously replaced.
Engine is very strong. Burns no oil. Ever. Gets 20mpg on the freeway using synthetic oil.
Timing chain is good. Rails are new. Cams are visibly perfect.
New brakes, tires, power steering pump, steering box,
various suspension bushings.
Paint has a couple of problems. Older respray has scratches and peeling clearcoat in some places.
Transmission is slow to engage reverse at times. Shifts well, generally, but has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd. Hardly use 1st since the car is so fast from 2nd.
Seats are good with 1 small opened crack, but the leather is getting dry. We have been applying ointments.

So what do you think about this car? Ebay, parts or a driver?
