oil sump? I believe you are referring to the air/oil separator, get one off a 240D, late 123 chassis, it will fit right on the oil drain tube with some home made bracket work (not difficult) you can see it and the K&N filter attached directly to the turbo inlet on this post:

The separator could go for little or nothing off a wrecked car, new they were about $65 from the dealer (something like 5 or 6 years ago so certainly more now) and the RU1000 cost me about the same back then. Someone posted that the RU1000 was not available anymore but I haven't verified that. A car parts place that can special order it could determine whether its still made and how much but I've seen knock-offs that were very similar. I bracketed the flat fron side of the filter to my thermostat housing for stability.
