Irony of Kuarismaki.

^^^^"Leningrad Cowboys Go America" is where this came from. It's a movie by Aki Kuarismaki, the director from Finland, whose sense of deadpan irony is ABSOLUTELY hilarious. Their band comes to America, from Finland, but a member dies when they get there. In NYC they a purchase this dilapidated black 1963 Cadillac limousine from a shady car dealer, then lash a wooden coffin to its roof, and set out on tour. The New Orleans scenes are priceless.

Think Jim Jarmusch and Wim Wenders with a Finnish accent and funnier....

One of his other movies, "Drifting Clouds" (I think it is) is about an alcoholic couple in Helsinki who decide to open up a restaurant, which is amazingly successful as it turns out. In the end, a Huge Finnish garbage truck parks outside the front door.

Two deadpan garbagemen come in, in full dress garbageman blues, sit down at the fancy table with flowers and linen tablecloth and gingerly remove their stinking garbageman gloves, and set them delicately on the table. A priceless moment, perfectly timed.

An earlier one is about a miner in Lapland who loses his job and sets out on a road trip in a white 1962 Cadillac convertible with the top down, in the dead of winter, towards the south of Finland. (This director is fascinated with those huge American land yachts from the 1960s and 1970s)
