I was very unhappy with my wood center cap (where the pad/airbag is, depending on model), and I put a lot of money and work into it, because it didn't fit well on my 85 wheel, and didn't fit at all without some significant mods on an airbag-equipped 126 wheel. Eventually, I got it to look good on the 86, even with a working horn and MB center emblem.

Within one year, it developed enormous cracks in the clearcoat and veneer. My glove compartment also developed one within two years. I'm thinking about sanding down the steering wheel cap and having it three-dimensionally printed with burl and clearcoated with better materials.

It isn't like I was in Florida and leaving it in direct sunlight!
