guide rod bearing replacement

Upon examination of the squeaking/groaning coming from the front suspension of my ,83 300sd when it compresses. (after I put a new shock on) It seems to be coming from where the guide rod attaches to the lower control arm. I have somebody compress the suspension while I felt the two sides of the guide rod and it is clearly coming from the lower control arm attachment. In addition there are pieces of rubber flaking from that attachment point.

My question is this; Is it possible to remove and replace the bolt and bushing without removing the spring and spring plate? I dont have a spring compressor. It seems pretty close, has anybody done it???
