I Have done several 103/104 head gaskets and its not that hard

Depends on how much experience you have with working on cars

get the Info and research it before you start the job

When the 103/104s were under MB Warranty I could do several in one day
But that comes with Several years of working on them

Re the valve job I would sublet that to a High Quality auto machine shop
as it requires special tools to remove and install the valve springs/guides/and to cut the valve seats
