It's a four-cylinder that was designed by lopping off one bank of a V-8. Thus the angle.

But it is a good engine. They come from the factory with forged cranks, pistons and rods. I've tore down a motor from a '80 turbo with over 100K miles on it, and the bore and taper were still within factory specs.
