paperwork issues with a car from the junkyard.

I wish I could have bought that Saab and played with it. It was immaculate inside.
Friend of mine from this board tried to buy a W123 Mercedes, that ran, from the junkyard. Apparently, once the title and DMV paperwork goes to the junkyard, and they set in motion the steps to dismantle the car, IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE to reverse it, and issue a new title that makes the car driveable. Even if YOU could stop and reverse the process, yo might get stuck with a SALVAGE TITLE.

YMMV of course by state, this is California I am talking about....

That is something to think about. Your best best is to make friends with someone at the Pick n Pull to "flag" a car that looks good, when it comes in, and for you to be able to buy it right then before the paperwork gets started to junk it.

It can be done, most Pick n Pulls DO have a mechanism to sell a complete running car, and every once in a while they will put a couple or a few complete running cars up for sale at the yards.

Usually, though, they prefer to simply have them be parted out, and hope they can make more money selling individual parts off them.

Never hurts to ask.
