Early 124 upper door trim removal?

I imagine there's been some discussion of this at some point before, but my search came up fruitless. How do you remove the outside upper trim strip on the passenger door of the 87 124? I have the FSM, which, in its usual crypticness, seems to indicate that there's a screw holding it on from the inside. I don't need to remove it completely ... just get the front portion off enough to do some rust repair right up above and behind it (still cursing that bad paint job 15 years ago). In the FSM it looks like there's a clip up front ... can I just pop the front portion off to do the rust touch-up? I can always just play around and see what happens, but I figured I'd be patient and ask first.
