I found an 86 300E with 119,000 miles on it last week and took it to my usual repair facility for pre-purchase inspection. Their report back was somewhat less than enthusiastic. The worst of it was a leaky trans seal which they said might run $1500 to repair. Is this a reasonable estimate or are they being a little pessimistic about the price?
The car has some amg parts, wheels, exhaust, and engine - and they also weren't happy with the offset on the wheels and the presence of a non-stock exhaust system. They're preference is Porsches and Audis, so they may be a bit biased.
thanks for any thoughts
