It may have a leak which could have iced up the evaporator. Or the evaporator coil could be dirty & need a cleaning. Or both dirty & leaking.

If you do have to replace the compressor replace the whole condenser unit. You will get a full one year warranty as apposed to 3 months for just the comressor.
