Can anyone confirm whether the 722.502 transmission should start off in 1st gear when the shifter is placed into the 2nd gear (1 upshift when accelerating in 2nd gear shift position)? Have a 1993 Benz 300SE w/ a M104 engine.

If it is suppose to start off in 1st gear when in 2nd position, and does not, what might be the culprits of this anomaly? Thanks.
