I read somewhere recently that the idea of changing oil every 3000 miles is overkill. and that some newer autos actually can go 5-10k depending on if its petroleum oil or synthetic. i''ve only had my 85 300CD for a month but have had a 2000 Chevy Silverado for 7 years which I change oil about every 5k. it runs like new and uses only about 1 qt between changes. never had to do any major repairs. what are your thoughts on this guys?
