There are many reasons why John McCain should not be President, but this is not one of them, in my humble opinion. So long as he knows that prices are too darn high, I don't see why he needs to know the specific price per gallon. And he showed good judgment (for a change) in not guessing.

I filled up yesterday and I think I paid $4.69 per gallon for diesel, but I couldn't swear to that. It's just not a piece of information I feel the need to retain. I know that fuel has become expensive, so I try not to waste it, but knowing the price per gallon is not going to change my behavior.

If I was running for President (God forbid) and had drivers taking me everywhere I went, I wouldn't have a clue what the price per gallon was.
