A couple years ago we have a "blind" tasing of chardonnay by Peter Vella, Franzia and the "control" was a 2004 Mondavi Private Reserve.

After a lot of slurpping . . . the Mondavi was the first pick nearly all, but the Vella had some advocates, and the Franzia was a consistent third. The most consistent comment about the boxed juice was the sugar content being higher than the Mondavi, which apparently was a good thing for some.
