Your ongoing saga just proves once again that if you want something done right, do it yourself. Did you ever consider going to one of those test-only stations and then using the info to tweek the engine yourself?

And speaking of test-only stations, recently I took my mom's 98 saturn (48K miles) for its check. Everything passed with the exception of the gas cap. I've heard others coment on this gas-cap test and I am just wondering if these are bogus tests or if all these gas caps really fail to hold pressure. Of course, these stations have new caps for sale even though they can't make repairs.
