The 90 liter tank is a bolt-in replacement for the 70 liter tank, the only downside is that the 90 liter tank intrudes about 5-6 inches back into the trunk somewhat reducing trunk capacity. The panel in front of the tank also mounts a bit differently and you might have to drill some new holes to install it in the correct location. The fuel sender is the same on both tanks.

I bought a 90 liter tank from PGA in Frederick, MD and retrofitted in my 91 300D, my personal best tank was 804 miles.
