The dealer today confirmed that both 65 and 80 liter tanks were available for the 1996 E300D (W210) but could not determine which came in my car based on my VIN and their records. It's interesting that the owner's manual says it is a 16.4 gallon tank -- that is only 62 liters. I think the next thing is to run the car until the reserve light comes on and then go fill the tank, see what it will take. The Russian MB club's VIN lookup does not give fuel tank size for my car.
