In my experience, the OM606 doesn't really achieve a noticeable difference in mpg from the OM603. They are the same. The later 210 has an overdrive gear with a lockup clutch and an aerocoeefficient of 0.29, that's where the economy comes from.
Plus, since you will be using the OM603 pump, the power output will be the same as the earlier engine. Unless you tweak it. Which you can up to ~180 hp. In either case, you'll need an intercooler. But the OM606 requires it.
The only reason I'd transplant one of those is if I was planning a project on the "Myna diesel-power" scale.
