I'm not the one playing Dr. with what works and doesn't you are, however I've spent countless hours in pain management groups with patients and doctors, while you and Aklim are trying to make sense out of your minute knowledge of chronic pain based on a couple experiences of your own.
The bottom line is if a person gets relief from something it works, many say acupuncture works while others say it is purely in the patients mind, in either case if the pain is relieved the procedure worked.
