Mercedes transmission are geared similar to manual even though they are different in the aspect that the faster you go the smaller gear ratio you will have providing speed instead of torque.

Er no and no. 1:1 is *not* overdrive. Also in W123 the manual and auto are geared exactly the same (atleast in any manual you are likely to find here).
