Do you have the automatic GP that turn on when you turn on the key switch or do you have to pull a lever or or turn a switch manually to energize the GP? By the orange light do you mean an actual light in the dash or a coil similar to a cigar lighter that glows red hot.

If you have the kind of GP that you turn on manually, you won't have a GP relay and you have series type GP.

It sounds like you have a shorted GP. I had one in a 220D once but it didn't blow a fuse but the wires got so hot, they started to smoke. You can check each GP without removing it with a sensitive ohmmeter. They will all have very low resistance values, but the shorted one will read lower than the others and will have almost zero ohms resistance.
