The owner is Dave Shimano, and a good deal of the 500E guys know about him. He knows alot about the car, but I do not think that it is him who is personally listing the auction.

Everything about that car is correct. Its got the right Aero I wheels... I have the Car and Driver that it was in... Thats a real deal, german AMG Hammer.
Not *exactly*

It is NOT a true hammer (with the DOHC) because the DOHC cost 49% more than this one, with retailed at $100,000 at the time (1988) as explained by Buxbaum

The Hammers with the 4 valve head cost $65,000 more to produce and about 200 more hours of labor to build than the SOHC, balanced and blueprinted

But, it is known the DOHC engine is more troublesome and less reliable than the SOHC 6.0 which did 0-60 in 5.7 which was pretty fast for a staton wagon back in 1988, and the quarter mile in 14.2, top speed of 153 mph..

So not a true Hammer, but it's good enough....and it would be more reliable than the 6.0

Definately, go for it.

I saw this one Justin, and it had your name written on it. You know what an 88 300TE is all about anyhow.

This would be as good as it gets. You'd need agreed value insurance for it, because it's basically a driveable collectors car, a piece of history.

Get it and I will happily buy the Leatherique for you.
