Speedometer inaccuracy doesn't matter to me much, I can send my current speedometer in for repair and use a inaccurate one as a backup. I have a GPS and can just correct to the right speed in my head if I don't have the GPS with me. I just mainly wanted to make sure the electrical connectors matched up. I've actually been using my GPS as an odometer, the odometer hasn't worked since I bought the car and I just now tried to fix it. What really gets me is I fixed the lights, one of my silver centers had fallen off and I reattached it, then the fuel gauge goes dead. Oh well, just my luck.

Then the one I'm looking at may not be a '79. It has temperature and oil pressure in metric just like my current cluster. Of course its a pull, so the year of the car it came from could have been forgotten or not known in the first place.

the gear ratio is stamped on the Diff. on the left side. scrape the grease
and grime off the lower left looking from the rear of the car.there is a
flat spot with #`s stamped. like 3:46 or what ever.

then go to your favorite JY. happy hunting.
Thanks, I'll go take a look at the ratio. I would go to the junkyard, but I live so far away from the nearest one with Mercedes, it would be the same price to buy one and have it shipped. The last time I went, I can't really recall any W123s with a good cluster, anyway. I put up a wanted to buy in the classifieds here.
