You must remove the elctronics from the double firewall area. I just did the same job on our 1995. I disconnected all the plugs from the modules and removed three 10mm nuts that hold the aluminum support in place. There was also a relay and it's connector that I removed. Then the whole assembly can be pulled out. The nut is down under some wiring.
