It helps to be small, in this case, not sumo-large.

First, move the front seats forward as far as they will go. Next, check the spring clips on the floor of the car to be sure they aren't bent at a funny angle. Then, put the rear seat in place and pull the seatbelts up through the crack; if they insist on falling back, you may have to temporarily convince them using bungy cords, duct tape, etc. Now get into the footwell and press the seat back with your knees while pushing down with your hands. Do one side and then the other and it will eventually pop into place.

Sometimes I get it right the first time but other times I have to fight it for awhile.
