You'll be fine either way. My semi-retired Indy was an old 'black hands' diesel mechanic who only used 15W-40 in his garage for both gassers and diesels. My 94 W124 used it exclusively for years. Then he went to another garage part time and to my surprise used 5W-30 the last time I was in. Actually I like the lighter oil as it's the same as my Chevy van requires and I only need to have one jug around. No noticeable difference in starting, performance or mileage.
