I saw one big one in my life and I'm still not sure if I really believe it. A friend of mine and I drove about 30 miles away from Seattle to get away from the light to watch one of the meteor showers, this about 20 to 25 years ago.
We saw a lot of small ones and then this thing came low from one side of the horizon, across the sky, and disappeared over the opposite horizon -- lot of trees so the horizon of our field of view was not that far away. We were in a clearing though, so you could see it for a while.
It was tumbling sorta slowly and flaming the whole way. Almost too fantastic to believe but both of us saw it.
