Stupid question, maybe someone knows...(diesel but not Mercedes-related)

Hello everyone. This is a non-Mercedes related, but diesel-related question. Even though this is a Mercedes forum, there seems to be a lot of general diesel knowledge floating around here.

I am looking at buying an 84 Toyota Camry 1.8 turbodiesel for a low price because it's not currently running. The problem seems to be the fuel supply.

Does anyone know if this particular diesel (or any diesels for that matter) has a fuel pump aside from the IP? The car turns over, but will not start. I am almost certain it's a fuel problem because hand-pumping the primer pump a few times lets the car run for a couple seconds before it dies.

If there is a fuel pump (that is not the IP) where would it be?

Final question: does anyone happen to know the average going rate of an IP rebuild?
